Ljubljana, 16 May (STA) - The number of people in employment in Slovenia increased both at annual and monthly levels in March, the Statistics Office said on Thursday. The number reached 890,000, which was 0.6% more than in February and 3.1% more than in March 2018.
Data show that the number of men in employment was 489,800, while the number of women in employment was 400,200.
The number of persons in employment increased in all parts of Slovenia and across all sectors on the monthly level. Compared to March last year, the number of persons in employment dropped in four out of twenty sectors.
The largest increase was seen in manufacturing, where 7,400 (+3.7%) more people found jobs over March 2018, and construction, where the number of workers increased by some 6,000 (+10.6%).
Interestingly, the number of persons working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) went up by 12% over the past five years to 56,300 in March; 53% of them were men and 47% were women.
