Ljubljana, 21 June (STA) - Slovenia's consumer confidence index improved somewhat in June, increasing by one percentage point compared to the month before and standing 21 points above the long-term average, the Statistics Office said on Thursday.
The index was up primarily on the account of significantly better expectations of consumers regarding their prospects to save money and the suitability of the moment for savings (by six points each) and the index measuring the suitability of the moment for major purchases (by seven points).
Also up was the sub-index measuring the expectations about the financial situation in households (by two points).
Consumers were less optimistic about the expectations regarding the number of unemployed (down by two points) and the economic situation in the country (down by one point).
The index measuring the expectations regarding the level of prices was down by two percentage points.
Slovenia's consumer confidence index in June was up by four points year-on-year and five points above last year's average.
