Ljubljana, 29 June (STA) - An annual inflation rate of 2.1% was recorded in Slovenia in June, mostly on the account of higher fuel and energy prices, the Statistics Office reported on Friday.
Fuel and energy prices contributed 0.9 percentage points to the annual inflation, with liquid fuels becoming 23.5% dearer. Prices of solid fuels were up by 10.1%, diesel by 14.5% and petrol by 9.2%.
Prices of services were up in June by 2.5% year-on-year, while prices of goods were up by 1.9%, according to the statisticians.
Prices of non-durable goods increased by 3.6%, while prices of durable and semi-durable goods dropped by 2.2% and 0.9%, respectively.
Also contributing to the annual inflation (0.6 percentage points) were higher prices of food (+3.6%), with the prices of meat increasing the most (+8.2%), followed by vegetables (+7.7%).
The annual inflation in June was cut by 0.2 percentage points by lower prices of cars (4.4%).
Consumer prices meanwhile remained flat at the monthly level in June. Prices of fruit were down 12.5%, while prices of clothing and footwear dropped by 1.9%.
On the other hand, prices of holiday packages were up by 6.1%, and prices of air passenger transport services were up by 36.7%.
Prices of petroleum products were also up, with prices of liquid fuels increasing by 7%, and prices of oils and lubricants by 1.3%.
Measured with the harmonised index of consumer prices, an EU gauge, annual inflation stood at 2.3% in June, while prices on average remained flat at the monthly level.
