Ljubljana, 27 May (STA) - Slovenia's 100 biggest exporting and importing companies accounted for about 50% of the country's foreign trade in 2016, the Statistics Office has said. Slovenia's exports reached almost EUR 25bn in 2016, and imports were at EUR 24bn.
More than 67% of exporters were at the same time also importers, while less than 30% of importers were also exporters, according to the Statistics Office.
The fifty biggest exporters in Slovenia (0.2% of all exporters) accounted for 43% of exports, while 100 biggest exporters accounted for 50% of exports.
What is more, the 1,000 biggest exporters (4%) accounted for 88.7% of total trade generated in 2016.
Foreign-owned companies, which made up 9.8% of Slovenia's exporting firms, generated 37.3% of total exports.
Meanwhile, 20 of the biggest importers accounted for more than 20% of total imports, while 100 of the biggest importers accounted for about half of total imports. The 1,000 (1.8%) largest importers accounted for 80.6% of total imports.
