Ljubljana, 27 November (STA) - Steel group SIJ posted higher revenue in its steel and food divisions for the January-September period. But while the food division's EBITDA rose significantly, it was flat in the much larger steel division, show preliminary results released on Tuesday.
The steel division saw sales of EUR 620m, up 8.5% from a year ago. Profit before income tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) remained flat at EUR 60.9m as prices of some key inputs rose significantly.
The food division - represented by poultry company Perutnina Ptuj - saw sales rise by 6.2% to EUR 204m, whereas EBITDA rose by more than a fifth to EUR 21.5m.
Sij's 90.7% stake in Perutnina Ptuj was recently sold to Ukrainian poultry giant MHP pending clearance from the Slovenian competition watchdog.
Net profit in either division was not disclosed.
The company initiated today a pre-sales procedure for its fifth issue of commercial paper. The EUR 30m issue is expected to be concluded in mid-December.
