Ljubljana, 09 February (STA) - Slovenia's industrial output rose by 8% in 2017 on the back of robust performance in manufacturing. The sector produced 8.7% more than the year before, the Statistics Office said on Friday.
In December, the industrial output rose by 2.7% compared to the month before and by 12.2% compared to December 2016.
The output in manufacturing in December rose by 2.8% in monthly comparison and by 13.3% at the annual level.
In mining, the output rose by 3.4% in 2017 year-on-year. In December alone, it was up by 3.6% over the month before while dropping by 3.1% at the annual level.
The production in electricity, gas and steam supply increased by 1.8% in 2017 compared to 2016. The sector recorded a 0.2% drop at the monthly and a 0.6% drop at the annual level in December.
Industrial companies made 9.7% more in turnover last year. In December, they generated 1.9% more revenue than in the month before and 14.2% more than in December 2016.
The value of stocks of finished and unfinished production last year was up 5.7% compared to 2016. The monthly rise in December was at 0.8% and the annual at 6.5%.
