Ljubljana, 09 April (STA) - Slovenia' merchandise trade continued to grow apace in February. Exports increased at an annual rate of 12.2% to EUR 2.68bn and imports rose by 9% to EUR 2.57bn, creating a surplus of EUR 102.6m.
According to the latest report from the Statistics Office, 76% of the exports and the same proportion of imports were generated in trade with EU member countries.
Slovenia exported EUR 2.03bn worth of goods to the EU market, 9.6% more than a year ago, and imported EUR 1.96bn worth of goods from there, an increase of 3.8%, generating a surplus of EUR 77.6m.
Exports to non-EU countries rose by 21.1% year-on-year to EUR 642.5m as imports surged by 29.8% to EUR 617.5m. The trade surplus amounted to EUR 25m.
Overall exports represented 104% of the imports.
In the first two months of the year, exports were up by 12.5% to EUR 5.36bn and imports rose by 9.2% to EUR 5.17bn. The trade surplus amounted to EUR 187.3m and the export-import ration was 103.6%.
