Poljane nad Škofjo Loko, 06 April (STA) - Polycom, a family-owned company specialising in processing of plastics, has inaugurated a new production facility, an investment worth EUR 12m, in the Dobje industrial area near the town of Poljane, north-west.
A provider of integrated development solutions for the automotive and other industries, Polycom had decided on the investment after its current facility proved too small to support its development and growth.
As a result of new deals, Polycom's annual revenue almost tripled in the 2010-2016 period, increasing from nine to 25 million euro.
The robust growth continued in 2017, when Polycom planned EUR 27.5m in revenue, but made EUR 31m. Its profit reached EUR 1.9m, exceeding the plan by half a million euro.
The plan for this year is EUR 36m in revenue and EUR 2.5m in profit, Polycom co-owner and chairman Iztok Stanonik told the STA on Friday.
The growth is being accompanied by new hirings; since the construction of the new factory started in February 2017, the number of employees has grown from 202 to 270.
Production at the new facility was launched at the beginning of this year, while the old premises will be used as warehouse for end-products.
Stanonik explained the new factory complied with industry 4.0 standards, meaning it is a smart roboticised factory.
