Brdo pri Kranju, 08 November (STA) - The newspaper publisher Delo honoured plastic product manufacturer Polycom with the title Business Star of 2018 on Thursday, saying that it had impressed the award jury with growth on the demanding car market, digitalisation, training of staff and potential to continue with successful operation.
The Škofja Loka-based company, owned by brothers Iztok and Igor Stanonik, has been picked among ten small and medium-sized fast-growing companies.
Polycom director Iztok Stanonik said that awards such as Delo's were becoming increasingly important, helping the company find adequate staff.
"At the same time, we are noticing that because of this and because of higher recognisability we are receiving more and more applications for various jobs, including for those for which we used to think it was impossible to get staff," he added.
According to Delo, Polycom increased its sales revenue by 75% in the last five years to EUR 31.2m in 2017, posting almost EUR 2m in net profit.
The share of exports in total sales is 81%, with the company exporting to the EU, North and South America and Asia, mostly to clients from the automotive industry.
The readers' award meanwhile went to Vasco, the Šenčur-based developer of business software for small and medium-sized companies.
