Ljubljana, 31 January (STA) - More than 4.7 million tourists visited Slovenia in 2017, which was 13% more than in 2016, making for yet another record year in tourism. The number of nights rose 11% to 12 million, show data released by the Statistics Office on Wednesday.
Data shows that the growth is generated in large part by foreign tourists. Their number exceeded 3.4 million last year, which was 17% more than in 2016.
Foreign tourists also generated more than 67% or 8.1 million nights. The figure was 15% higher than the year before.
The number of nights generated by 1.3 million Slovenian tourists grew by 4% year-on-year to 3.9 million. The number of Slovenian tourists was 6% higher than the previous year.
