Celje, 01 February (STA) - Slovenian spa resorts last year welcomed 841,612 guests, who generated a total of 3.1 million overnight stays, which is 0.2% less than in 2017.
The number of stays by foreign guests was up by 0.5%, while the number of stays by domestic quests remained flat, with the share of foreign guests exceeding the share of domestic guests for the first time.
The financial results of spa resorts will be known only in April, while some of them are already reporting a growth in revenue in 2018.
The Association of Slovenian Natural Spas said that considering the current capacities, there was not much room to increase the overall number of overnight stays, as a majority of resorts were full at weekends throughout year.
It added that spa resorts had made major investments in infrastructure last year, and that new investments had been also announced for this year.
