Ljubljana, 10 January (STA) - Port operator Luka Koper generated EUR 223.7m in net sales revenue last year, 7% more than in 2018, according to preliminary data released on Thursday. Transshipment increased by 3% over 2017 to 24.05 million tonnes.
Data on profit was not provided, but in November, the company reported a nine-month net profit of EUR 49m, a 22% improvement on the same period in 2017.
For the whole year, transshipment of containers increased by 5% year-on-year measured by weight and by 8% by unit to nearly 988,500 containers. Transshipment of cars was up 2% by unit to just over 754.400.
Transshipment of bulk cargo was up by 1%, while general cargo increased by 11%. Only transshipment of liquid cargo saw a decrease, sliding 1%, the preliminary report shows.
This year, the port operator expects to see a 3% increase in cargo transshipment and an 8% increase in net revenue, which is expected to reach EUR 238m in 2019.
Luka Koper lost 1.2% in early trading on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange today.
