Ljubljana, 23 October (STA) - Labour costs in Slovenia rose 3.3% last year, as it cost an average of just under EUR 2,217 per month to employ a worker, show Statistics Office data released on Tuesday.
Employees' actual income accounted for just over 85% of the total cost, with social contributions accounting for the bulk of the remainder.
The highest average labour costs were registered in electricity and gas supply (EUR 3,594) and financial services (EUR 3,306).
The lowest paid workers, in accommodation and food services, cost less than half as much, EUR 1,485.
The statistics cover full-time and part-time workers and exclude farmers.
Costs per hour worked totalled EUR 17, which places Slovenia ahead of Cyprus (EUR 16) and after Spain (EUR 21.2).
The EU average was EUR 26.8, with the highest costs registered in Denmark (EUR 42.5) and the lowest in Bulgaria (EUR 4.9).
