Ljubljana, 05 February (STA) - The number of jobless in Slovenia stood at 87,919 at the end of January, a drop of 15.2% compared with January 2017 and a rise of 3.4% compared with December, according to the data released by the national Employment Service on Monday.
As many as 11,212 jobless were registered in January anew, down by 13.6% over January last year and up by 36.3% over December.
The majority, or 7,411 jobless, registered with the Employment Service because their fixed-term employment contract expired.
Another 909 were first-time job seekers and 1,455 ended without a job as a result of redundancies or bankruptcies.
Out of the 8,353 unemployed who were crossed out of unemployment records last month, 6,180 got self-employed or found a job, a 67.3% rise over December and a 2% drop January 2017.
