Kočevje, 12 April (STA) - Sock maker Intersocks is in the process of expanding its existing Slovenian location in Kočevje. The EUR 4m investment is expected to create 50 jobs over three years, the company told the STA.
The company is building the new plant, where it will produce top-of-the-range sport socks, adjacent to its distribution warehouse in Kočevje. The plan is to complete construction in October.
The plant will span 4,500 m2 and the plan is to use a lot of wood, a nod to the massive forests of Kočevje area.
Intersocks has been present in Kočevje since 1992, when it started small-scale production, but in 2004 it moved its headquarters there from the north of Italy.
The company posted sales of EUR 37.3m in 2017, up from EUR 35.6m in the year before. Net profit was roughly flat at EUR 1.7m, according to unaudited results.
