Ljubljana, 24 May (STA) - Hot Mobil, the youngest mobile operator in Slovenia, attracted 40,000 users in a year of operation and now and accounts for 1.5% of the market, executive director Eva Aljančič told the press on Thursday.
Hot Mobil entered the Slovenian market in May 2017 cooperation with retailer Hofer and is being advertised as Hot - Hofer Telekom.
The Austrian-owned company does not have its own mobile network and is using the infrastructure of A1, Slovenia's second biggest operator owned by A1 Telekom Austria.
Hofer adopted the same business model as in Austria: the network is owned and operated by Ventocom, a mobile virtual network enabler, with Hofer providing the brand and the retail locations.
Aljančič said that Hot Mobil's arrival made the country's mobile market more competitive, adding that the prices of package deals similar to those provided by Hot Mobil dropped by about 20% since it entered the market.
Hot Mobil's strategy remains unchanged, with the company refusing to be a niche player in Slovenia's crowded mobile market. Aljančič added that Hot Mobil was the third fastest growing mobile provider in the country.
