Ljubljana, 14 May (STA) - China's Hisense, which has been picked by Gorenje as its the new strategic partner, promises development of the Slovenian household appliances maker. The potential partner also said it would respect the principles of trust and integrity, and maintain the stability of jobs at the Velenje-based company.
Hisense, which has offered EUR 12 per share under the condition that it would be able to buy 50% plus one share, said in a press release on Monday it would also protect and develop the existing brands of Gorenje and use cutting edge technologies, products and global channels to strengthen and expand the company.
Through a Slovenian PR agency, vice-president of the Chinese group Tang Yeguo said that the group wished to cooperate well with the state, local community and the entire Slovenian society.
Hisense was established in 1969 in China, originally focusing on the manufacturing of radios to develop in recent years into one the world's biggest makers of TV and household appliances.
It has production facilities around the world, including in Europe. According to the company's webpage, Hisense employs around 75,000 people in more than 20 subsidiaries.
The Hisense holding is state-owned, while the shares of subsidiaries Hisense Electric and Hisense Kelon Electrical holdings are listed on stock exchanges in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
They operate several household appliance and electronics brands, including Hisense, Kelon and Ronshen.
