Ljubljana, 21 March (STA) - Slovenian consumers were gloomier in March with the consumer confidence indicator deteriorating by one percentage point in what is the second consecutive monthly drop, show Statistics Office data released on Thursday.
Pessimism about household savings at present (down 6 points) and over the next year (down 4 points) as well as the financial state of households (a 2-point decrease) were the driving forces of the decline.
On the other hand, consumers remain upbeat about the prospects for unemployment (an improvement of two points), the state of the economy (plus 2 points) and price trends (an increase of 2 points).
At the annual level, the headline indicator was down five percentage points, largely due to deteriorating sentiment about the state of the economy (down 11 points) and unemployment (down 10 points).
