Ljubljana, 27 July (STA) - The value of construction work conducted in Slovenia increased by 24% to EUR 1.99bn last year, a 6.2 percentage-point improvement on the initial estimate released by the Statistics Office in February.
The new figures, released on Friday, show that building construction expanded by 35% compared to 2016 and civil engineering construction by 14%.
The value of construction work on buildings amounted to a billion euro and the value of civil engineering work to EUR 989m.
The construction work invested by legal persons expanded by 24%, while the value of construction paid for by individuals rose by 22%.
Legal entities invested mainly in construction of non-residential buildings (EUR 634m or 38% more than in 2016), while natural persons invested primarily in construction of residential buildings (EUR 186m or 15% more than in 2016).
The value of construction put in place on residential buildings went up by 27% and on non-residential buildings by 39%.
Among civil engineering projects most construction work (EUR 559m) was performed on transport infrastructures (+14% on 2016).
