Ljubljana, 22 June (STA) - Business sentiment rose by 1.2 percentage points to 13.3 points in June compared to May. It was up by 14.6 points compared to the long-term average, the Statistics Office said on Friday.
Contributing the most to the improvement were the confidence indices in retail (+1.1. points), among consumers (+0.3), and in construction (+0.1).
Meanwhile, the confidence index in services dragged the overall sentiment down (-0.3 points), while the one in manufacturing did not have any effect.
In annual comparison, business sentiment rose by 0.9 percentage points, mostly due to the rise in the confidence indices among consumers (+0.8 points) and in construction (+0.7 points).
The indices for retail and manufacturing had a negative impact (dropping by 0.4 and by 0.2 points, respectively). The sentiment in services did not affect the annual change.
At the monthly level, the indices for exports orders were up by four percentage points and for joint orders by three points. The final stock index was meanwhile down by 4 points.
Among the indices measuring expectations, a notable rise was recorded related to exports (+3 percentage points). The expectations for production and anticipated prices were also up, while the expectations regarding hiring and expected demand were down.
The index showing confidence in retail was up by 22 points in June over May, and down by 9 points year-on-year. It exceeded the long-term average by 11 points.
The confidence in construction increased by a percentage point compared to May, by 13 points compared to last June and by 43 points compared to the long-term average.
Meanwhile, the confidence index in services dropped by a percentage point in June over May. The index was level in annual comparison, while exceeding the long-term average by 14 points.
