Ljubljana, 25 May (STA) - Slovenian business sentiment dropped by a percentage point to 12.1 points in May compared to April and was 2.5 points higher than in May 2017. The value was 13.4 percentage points higher than the long-term average, the Statistics Office said on Friday.
A 0.5-point decline in business sentiment in retail and a 0.3-point decline among consumers were the main cause of the monthly drop, while consumer confidence (+1 ppt) and construction (+0.9 ppt) contributed the most to the annual rise.
In May, consumer confidence in retail was 10 percentage points lower than in April and 10 ppt lower than in May last year. It was 11 ppt lower than the long-term average.
The consumer confidence index for construction was up by a percentage point in the monthly and by 18 points in the annual comparison. It was 42 points higher than the long-term average.
In manufacturing, consumer confidence was up by 2 points year-on-year and by 8 points compared to the long-term average.
Consumer confidence in the services sector was up by one point year-on-year and by 15 points from the long-term average.
