Mežica, 26 March (STA) - RSBCLUB member - Vehicle and stationary battery producer TAB had another record year in 2017, with sales rising 17% year-on-year to EUR 270m. EBITDA amounted to EUR 30m, which is 9% more than in 2016, the company has told the STA.
Group-level revenue for 2017 is expected to total around EUR 330m, up from EUR 286.7m in 2016.
Sales volume at the company also increased, from 1.4 million industrial batteries and 2.8 million starter batteries to 1.5 million and 2.9 million pieces, respectively.
The company plans to produce about the same amount of batteries this year, but expects revenue to increase to EUR 277m.
It is in the process of implementing an EUR 8m investment at its core factory in Žerjav to increase production there by 20%. It has already acquired an environmental approval and is currently obtaining an environmental permit for the expansion.
The Mežica-based company, which employs around 800 people in the northern Koroška region, has a 15-20% market share in industrial batteries in Europe and 5-7% share in starter batteries.
