Ljubljana, 31 August (STA) - Slovenia's annual inflation rate declined to 1.8% in August from 1.9% in July, with consumer prices dropping 0.1% on average at the monthly level. Higher prices of fuel remained the main driving force of annual inflation.
Fuel accounted for 0.6 percentage points of the headline inflation rate. Liquid fuel prices increased by 23.3%, diesel by 11.0% and petrol by 8.7%.
Another 0.2 percentage points were added by higher prices (5.1%) of meat.
Annual inflation was on the other hand pushed down by 0.2 percentage points by lower car prices (4.0%).
A 2.2% increase in the prices of packaged holidays stands out at the monthly level, impacting the monthly growth by 0.1 percentage point.
There were no significant decreases in consumer prices in August.
The harmonised index of consumer prices, an EU benchmark, declined by 0.1 points from July to 2.0%.
